It takes minutes to throw together, especially if you use canned chickpeas, and homemade hummus tastes so much better then store-bought that you'll never go back to buying ready-made.
1 bottle of fruity red wine, such as Beaujolais or Zinfandel
1 lemon, cut into wedges
1 orange, cut into wedges
5 ripe strawberries, sliced
5 ripe cherries
3 plums, sliced, stone removed
2 tbsp (30 ml) granulated sugar
1 oz. (2 tbsp) brandy
2 cups (500 ml) club soda
In large pitcher, add wine. Squeeze juice from lemon and orange wedges into wine. Add wedges into pitcher, leaving out seeds, if possible. Stir in cherries, strawberries, plums, sugar and brandy. (Make-ahead: Cover and refrigerate for up to 12 hours at this point) Add club soda and ice just before serving.
